Urinary dysfunction refers to a range of bladder control issues, such as leakage, urgency, frequency and difficulty emptying your bladder. While these problems often arise post-pregnancy due to changes in the pelvic muscles, they can also affect women due to aging, menopause, or certain medical conditions. These symptoms, whether triggered by childbirth or other factors, can impact both physical and emotional well-being, affecting daily life and self-confidence.
At Empower Women’s Health & Wellness, I understand the challenges women face during their journey. My approach is to offer comprehensive, personalized care that focuses on restoring strength, function, and confidence. I believe in empowering women through education, support, and tailored treatments designed to improve bladder control and enhance daily living.
Several urinary dysfunction conditions commonly affect women after childbirth. One of the most prevalent is stress urinary incontinence, where activities such as coughing, sneezing, or exercising cause urine leakage due to weakened pelvic floor muscles. Another common issue is urge incontinence, characterized by an overwhelming need to urinate, often resulting in accidents if a bathroom isn’t quickly accessible.
Other notable conditions include overactive bladder, where frequent urination disrupts daily life, and pelvic organ prolapse, which occurs when the pelvic muscles weaken to the point that the bladder or other pelvic organs shift out of place. These conditions not only cause physical discomfort but can also have a profound emotional impact, affecting self-esteem and daily function.
Empower Women’s Health & Wellness provides personalized treatment options to address these challenges, helping women regain control of their bladder health and improve their quality of life.
Effective treatments for urinary dysfunction vary depending on the cause and development of the condition. Pelvic floor therapy, which retrains and strengthens the muscles responsible for bladder control, is a foundational treatment. It involves targeted exercises that can improve muscle tone and help manage leakage. Bladder retraining is another approach, teaching patients to gradually increase the time between bathroom visits to regain control.
If you have not seen a doctor or medical provider about your condition, I will always refer you if I feel therapy will not be a successful option,
At Empower Women’s Health & Wellness, I offer a range of solutions designed to meet each woman’s specific needs, helping them regain comfort, control, and confidence.

Jamie is the best! She helped me get through some horrible flares. She is knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions. She helped equip me to continue my journey of strengthening and healing on my own, not leaving me dependent on her forever. I’m so grateful to have women like Jamie whose whole career is to come along side women, educating and equipping them to become a stronger version of themselves again. I always looked forward to my appointments because I knew she was going to help me find relief. If you’re in need of a pelvic floor physical therapist Jamie is your girl!
I was referred to Jamie by another medical professional. I had multiple issues postpartum after a very long labor (diastasis rectus, pelvic floor issues, tailbone misalignment, etc). Jamie took the time to work with my issues plus strengthening so I can return to my everyday life. She was very considerate and explained step-by-step the cause and effect of each issue and exercise. The manipulations (fascia release) helped immensely and not something I’ve had before at a physical therapy appointment. You will not find this level of care for patients anywhere else for therapy. Jamie is professional and her expertise in women’s health is beneficial. I highly recommend visiting with Jamie at every stage of a woman’s health.
Jamie has been an integral part of my care team and journey toward overcoming hypertonic pelvic floor and pudendal neuralgia issues. I have been seeing different pelvic PTs for years and now that I've finally found Jamie, I'm actually seeing progress and feeling better. She has extensive knowledge of pelvic floor issues, explains things thoroughly, really listens to her patient's needs, and thinks of various ways to treat the issues at hand. Finding Empower Women's Health has allowed for huge step forward in my long healing process. Highly recommend.
